Club News.... On the 13th of April we took around 50 parents and swimmers along to the TESCO store in Balby for a morning of bag packing, although we had to pack up early ourselves for the clubs afternoon training session, we still managed to collect a fantastic £371 in just over 2 hours, A big well done to everyone that attended and a massive thank you to the TESCO store, it’s staff and all of the shoppers....
The new Club team kit was finally ordered from our new supplier in April, with a six week delivery waiting time, hopefully if everything runs smoothly we should see it on poolside sometime in June.
Three of our Squad Coach’s attended a Stroke Clinic and LTAD seminar held by Team GB & City of Sheffield Head Coach “Russ Barber” held at the Adwick Leisure Centre, this was the fourth in a series of Sunday afternoon workshops to help refine some of the key skills in competitive swimming….Thanks to Russ & DARTES for another constructive afternoon.
Teaching & Squad News.... April has been a busy time for movements within the club, with several swimmers making the step up to C Squad, William Peace, Jack Flint, Thomas Eggington, Callum Walker and Jay Poole are the ones this time, with another 5 or 6 ready to make the step up over the next few weeks…..Jenny Warman, Maggie Godley, Lucy Ambler & Alex Chappell moves up into B Squad, Congratulations to Cohen Stephenson, Dan Bradbury & Isabelle Morgan who made the full time move up into A squad, we also welcome a new face in our top Squad as Ria Finch joins the Club. I will continue to top up all the Squads as swimmers achieve the standards required, , so keep working hard on perfecting those skills…..next time it could be YOU.
On the Competition side.... April 21st saw the club take a small group of 15 swimmers along to Stocksbridge for their annual Sprints gala, under the proposals by their local authority to close the centre, this could be the last one held at their own pool, let’s hope with the petition and full backing of the local communities, that they can get this closure overturned….Back in the pool, the gala was split into 2 sessions with 50mtr fast swimming in all four strokes, all built around heats and finals from duel age groups to keep all the swimmers focused, some super performances saw the swimmers achieve 17 individual finalists and 26 personal bests on the day….well done to everyone who competed.
Sunday the 28th was the date for this year’s DMASA Mets Teams Champions, held over two sessions at Adwick Leisure Centre for all the affiliated Doncaster Clubs, for a full write up on the day’s events.... see the Mets Teams special report in the Head coach news section.
